alessandro fiore – sei l’america quando chiudo gli occhi
It’s only artists, politicians and mystics who can get away with being dissatisfied with where they, and the people around them, are at. They’re the only ones who can complain and with misty eyes speak about a world where things are greatly improved.
They’re the only ones who can safely convince people of a glorious past, seemingly ripped out of fairytales, where innocence, bravery and pure love were the dominant forces. If you or I try to do it, this will all just seem absurd.
The same artists are the only ones that can sell treasure maps that can only be found by digging deep into tunnels meant to reach the future. It’s the words and the emotion poured into them that makes others want to grab a shovel and dig.
Taking inspiration from the modern, tranquil psychedelic-pop sounds alessandro fiore’s “sei l’america quando chiudo gli occhi” describes a love affair consummated in a world that has only been seen by the eyes of the dreamer. But listen closely! Isn’t that reason enough to believe? Are the vocals that glide over those acoustic guitar parts not enough to make you want to believe? It’s enough to make one keep looking for those holy lands forever.
Turtle Skull – Into The Sun
Most people are just waiting to be entertained, or frightened, and Netflix and the news will just about do it every time. But there’s another category who demands something else, even if they’re not entirely sure what it is that they need.
These are dreamers, but most of them need a good target on which to settle their imagination. They’re the people who still buy albums, go to concerts, and who reserve quality time to lose themselves in the exploration of music.
But these dreamers have to also be extremely trustworthy. Once you peel off the disguise of modern living and turn parts of your mind off for a bit, you invite all kinds of illusions into your theatre of dreams. Who knows what someone can place over there?
If you’re looking for a band to give your trust to, you may as well give Turtle Skull a chance. “Into the Sun” is inspired by the kind of riff-based, warm-psychedelia that bands like King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard also like to explore. What they promise is sojourn for your mind in a place where the news is always turned off. And, once you see the smoke rising up on “Into the Sun,” who’d find it easy to say “no.”
