Alex Lucero makes the kind of quirky indie rock that dares you to call his bluff on whether he’s joking, or not. Just like Father John Misty, a modern rock figure operating in similar territories, the answer isn’t all that important. This material is far too funny to be taken seriously, and far too clever to be taken lightly.
It would matter very little if beyond the bunny ears and sleep deprived eye lids ,that adorn Lucero’s artwork, there wouldn’t be a writer in love with bastardizing 50s rock and planting his own nifty melodies on top of it.
