All The Queen’s Horses – Sirens Up On Mizen Head Review

All The Queen's Horses - Sirens Up On Mizen Head

All The Queen’s Horses, for us coffee-addicted, punk-rock fans, could just be the touch of culture that our day desperately needs. It might be one of the few ones we’re likely going to get, so like a lemon being tossed to a scurvy-infested sailor, we’d better suck the thing dry.

Sirens Up On Mizen Head is a beautiful piece of moody poetry provided with a slight musical accompaniment and a polite beat. Much like Conor Oberst’s Bright Eyes albums, this could well survive as a poem. Would it thrive as well in the wilderness without the assistance of music? Probably not.

The expressionistic lyrics deal with torturously cruel elements, well-beyond the control of mere mortals. Love, extreme violence, a world-swallowing tempest make up the list of the matters of the heart surely to destroy a young man or woman.

This is a song that’s very attention-grabbing.
