Jakob Leventhal x Sarah Jarosz – Greenwich Village Ghosts
Jakob Leventhal and Sarah Jarosz have written an indie-folk number, called “Greenwich Village Ghosts”. Here’s our review of that single.
Jakob Leventhal and Sarah Jarosz wrote the kind of tune they’d be pitching to great singers of the late 1960s if times were right. The tone of the piano is familiar, almost like a melody played on a toy instrument. The lyrics are well thought out, melancholic, and reaching for an altogether different place in time.
Geia – Unforgiving
At 20 years old, Geia is already a music veteran. She plays bass (pun-intended), guitar, drums, piano, harmonica. Here’s a review of her single “Unforgiving”.
Geia reflects on the pressures of society aka getting a job and giving up on your dreams. It’s, strangely, not a subject often touched upon in rock or pop songs. In fact, most of the time artists describe their exotic, luxury filled lives.
Geia is honest. And, judging by the recording, of which she is responsible in its entirety, she is also quite talented and driven. We believe!
