Beyond Brookhaven – Feral Lane

If you’re not relying on some kind of dream, then how are you managing to keep going without becoming one of those freaks that starts yelling at dogs for no reason? Everyone needs some kind of device for survival, something to tell them that everything happens for a reason.

And, frankly, this is the principal reason why movies, comic books, and rock n’ roll are the art forms that have dominated across recent decades. At the rate of the troubles the world is dealing with, they’ll be around for a while still.

What if the world is just a problem without an answer? What if you’re the main character inside of drama filled with danger, villains, and ultimately success? This is the story of fantasy that Beyond Brookhaven is soundtracking.

“Feral Lane” is meant to introduce peril, and then, when all seems lost, to help you escape unscathed. The verse is all post-punk gloom, while the chorus revels in alt-rock superhero moves. It’s a song about blending in and becoming one with your environment, even if that happens to be a wasteland.

Cook Allender – Climb

There are billionaires, the vast majority, I would imagine, who hire a person to cheer them up whenever needed. No, that’s not a jester that I’m talking about, although the role is similar. These people usually prefer to be called life coaches.

And, most of these folks, more than anything, are serial optimists. They are paid the big bucks to tell others that they can, regardless of the odds, reach their goals. They are paid, essentially, to give great pep talks.

But what if you can’t afford to pay those folks millions of dollars, or even spend on attending one of their talks? Is there a cheaper alternative, or should you just give up on your dreams? Cook Allender believes that rock n’ roll remains your best source of encouragement that you can get.

Doesn’t the perfect riff make you feel powerful? Doesn’t an excellent rock vocal make you feel like you’re invincible? This is what Cook Allender hopes to give his listeners with the single “Climb,” a track that balances 90s-styled alt-rock riffs and old-fashioned optimism. Now is not the time to give up. According to Allender, now’s the time to keep going towards the top.
