The Man Who – Lose My Mind
Nobody gets replaced by a newly successful band unless they happen to be the drummer and unless they happen not to be up to scratch. And, since most drummers do not, that leaves them exposed.
The Beatles are, arguably, the most famous example. In Hamburg, they had a loveable, popular drummer, Pete Best. Once asked to record with the band, it was deemed that someone that could be a tad more professional needed to step in. It was curtains for Pete!
The same story happened to plenty of other drummers, in Oasis and Nirvana, for example. My heart goes out to them. Still, I get where those that made the decision were coming from.
The drums ought to keep time and make people dance. With programmed alternatives now a dime a dozen, it’s up to the band and producers to make the choices that put them in the best possible light.
The Man Who’s Lose My Mind is an alt-rock track constructed for the dance floors. It’s built around a beat meant to be played on repeat for hours. Drummers or no drummer, it hits its target.

What would the playlist of prehistoric men habitually running away from wild beasts would have sounded like? Would it have been full of tranquil power ballads or tense post-punk tunes?
What about the boys who fought in the World Wars? Would they have picked some tunes to soothe their fragile nerves or music that angrily protested against being turned into canon fodder?
And, finally, what about us? Should we rejoice in our lifestyle and find joyous sounds to remind us of just how well we are doing, or find tunes to jolt us from our slumber?
There’s a feeling in the air that things ain’t right and post-punk stylings work wonders to color the mood. Blair Gun’s Man of the Hour sounds about as real, and violent as a heart attack on the train taken back from work. Is this an apt choice for where we are? Yes, it is!
