Conan Gray - Heather (Review)

It pays to keep an eye on the charts once in a while, or, alternatively, on who’s getting the lion’s shares of follows and likes on social media. Those, for better or worse, are a reflection of the times.

Conan Gray is one such beneficiary of social media admiration, a pal to the 1975, and a young artist that could make Morrissey reprimand him for being a tad too self-involved.

With that out of the way, new single “Heather” is better produced than many of the singles on the charts, echoes the indie-pop obsession of the current era, and should please the singer’s copious contingent of fans. It may be teenybop, and let’s not pretend it isn’t, but it’s a new angle of doing things, much in the same way that the 1975 are a new of playing Huey Lewis grooves.
