Cryptozoologists - Owled In The Night Grass (Review)

Cryptozoologists are art-punks that sound to have taken on the 70s AOR as some kind of mad experiment. They sound as if they’ve been hired to soundtrack a scene set during that decade, and decided to introduce some crazy-preacher elements to their presentation.

They reminded me of one of rock music’s greatest dark-evangelists, Alex Harvey, a man not quoted or praised enough in recent years. Similarly to TSAHB, Cryptozoologists work with tension, just as someone does when taking a bus hostage.

Musically, the band provides the counterpoint to the maniacal singing, with the conservative rhythm section, gentle strings, and softly strummed guitars. Cryptozoologists are quite a find!
