Beggars Bold – beat practice
Genre: Alternative Rock
People used to get really excited when they heard extremely lo-fi recordings pressed on vinyl and made available in their record stores. The thrill would only be increased by the knowledge that it was genuinely successful artists that they were listening to. “How did the record company allow them to put this out?” “Is this really a bootleg that somebody recorded by sneaking underneath the creaking stage?” And, “when will Neil Young invent a device that will make the true stereo experience portable?”
These were all valid questions, and, to be fair, these kinds of recordings belonged to an older, much more conservative time. It was a time when hearing somebody swear in the background to “Hey Jude” seemed tantamount to a call to revolution. It was a time when people were forced to buy rare records off each other as if purchasing some kind of exotic Moroccan narcotic.
In 2022, not investing in gear, letting it all hang out, and planting your freak flag on Lo-Fi Mountain is just as brave. Because you don’t have to! Beggars Bold’s beat practice sound like the best alt-rock band, that you’ve heard in a while, who can’t spare any bread or time on hi-fi recordings. The band sounds like wisecracking dads sneaking off to the attic on weekends, and hoping that their record will get picked up and sell so that they can get away from their bickering wives. We hope it sells too! It’s charming!

Music every variety has hypnosis as one of the strongest weapons on which it can depend. After all, it’s no coincidence that every form of spiritual practice needs to have music at its center. And, when it does, the music is usually slow, engulfing, washing over the listeners like a never-ending river.
It’s also no surprise that music must be used whenever people are to be convinced of one issue or another. You cannot have a revolution without getting the believers to chant a strong hook. You can’t even sell a burger without the right jingle. Music is, first and foremost, a form of gentle deception, a way to seduce audiences into embracing the ideas that the artist wants to present.
DAUX DIVE’s Fake It is lo-fi psychedelic pop meant to hypnotize and seduce you. Just as if in a spiritual ceremony, it focuses on creating the sonic texture to make you forget about yourself if only for a minute. The shimmering guitars and mesmerizing vocals only add to the tune’s effect. Sometimes an audience just needs to have their minds taken over and Daux Dive is here to provide that.
