Earth Patriot – Memories
What qualities do you exactly need to do more than just survive in this world? What do you need to learn to do in order to thrive and reach your dreams, no matter how far away from you life has placed them?
Self-belief and enthusiasm, generally, trump everything else. Talent means nothing without the ability to get yourself out of bed in the morning, and to push yourself for just one more try.
Earth Patriot encapsulates those qualities. This lo-fi alt-rock musical project is all about idealism, all about the fact that there’s nobody who is going to do anything on your behalf, so you might as well get moving.
“Memories” is a song built around jangly guitars and hazy vocals. It’s a song about living in the moment and packing in enough memories so that you can return whenever times get tough. It’s a proudly DIY affair, an example of what you can do when you depend solely on yourself for success.
Diode – Believe It or Not
The majority of us have a mighty good opinion about our personal taste. Most of us see ourselves as adventurous, daring, and willing, at all times, to venture out and think new things to stimulate our imagination and help our growth.
But that’s a lie! It has to be unless you’re a massive outlier. Instead, you are most likely going to listen to the same kind of music for the rest of your life, have the exact same friends and get your news from the same sources.
In its own way, Diode wants to act as an antidote to all of that, as an agent of change, as the thing that actually helps you branch out. There’s more to this world than you’re allowing yourself to see and hear, after all!
Fittingly, “Believe It or Not,” a song about information bias, is also a melting pot of different sounds. Diode sounds like a power-pop band from the 1980s plunged into the world of modern rock and forced to learn how to bring clobbering guitar riffs to the table. It’s music for about all of the things in this world that can surprise you.
