In terms of the images hanging on the walls, prison cells, and regular, respectable homes are much the same. People hang pictures of their families. And they hang pictures of their favorite artists and celebrities.
It’s a way to remember the good times, and things get tough, I guess? It’s a way to remember that better days are ahead, ones where you’ll be accompanied by your family members and by your favorite songs.
It’s interesting to realize just how much power popular culture yields, especially the pop charts. From accountants to murderers, nobody goes about their business without a tune in their head.
In many ways, The High Water Marks’ Let’s Hang Out Forever is a celebration of pop music and all of the illusions that accompany it. A really good tune can make a moment feel like it will last forever. This is what The High Water Marks achieve here.
EG Vines – The Swim
Genre: Pop Punk, Garage Rock, Alternative Rock
One day soon, someone’s going to manage to travel from the past. And, they’ll be shocked, alright. Our technology, loose morals, and our obsession with wrecking the world we’ve been given are bound to terrify those travelers.
Naturally, they will also want to go to the places where people congregate. And as they’ll be guided through the aisles of our modern-day mega temples, they’ll gasp once they see thousands of people all shaking in unison.
It could appear as if they’re dancing or fighting. But there’s no way to be sure. The travelers could be forgiven for thinking, at first, that these people are not here of their own volition. Upon closer inspection, they’ll realize that this is just not the case.
Rock n’ roll is hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t witnessed it. Songs like EG Vines’ The Swim make your move, squirm, and shake it out. They’re therapy for the mind and soul, fevers that won’t quit and that make you feel better. And you have to be there to find out what it’s all about.
