False Advertising – Next Big Thing

If you know more than two people in this whole world, surely, at least one of them is there to remind you that all you must focus on is work, money and security. Everything else, they’ll say, is not vital and thus unnecessary.

That’s why, if a person with creative ambitions takes the time to ask enough people what they should do with their lives, they’ll be told that creating art is a luxury that they cannot afford.

People want to make you as miserable as they are, and sometimes your mind conspires to do the same. False Advertising rage against the dying of the light, of hopes and initiative, and try to fight the musicians’ own instincts while they’re at it.

“Next Big Thing” is a direct, punchy song where the overactive voice of doubt gets the spotlight. However, ironically, perhaps, the sound might just ensure that the band actually turns into a future sensation. This is catchy, immediate, and the lyrics have some real weight to them.

Funderbird – Buddhist Mary

Listen, if you find yourself enjoying this particular moment, count yourself lucky. You’re most likely among the only ones to feel any bit of happiness. And, sadly, this isn’t just because this world is full of wars and economic inequality.

The people who receive the greatest opportunities in this world of ours are, usually, desperate to keep them. They are so desperate, in fact, that they lie to themselves. They start believing pleasures are something to avoid.

But, as Funderbird’s music and attitude prove, finding time to be creative and learning about the way in which life works is a luxury that all of us can afford, but few dare to ask for.

“Buddhist Mary” sounds precisely like a loud punk band playing in a small room. It also sounds like musicians determined not to waste their time or your own. This is music imbued with experience and moved by appreciation. If punk-rock can make the world better, it can start by making your day a little better. This song does that!
