Freedumb and Crushing Planes review

Crushing Planes – Searchlights

Genre: Grunge, 90s Rock, Alternative Rock

The biggest entertainment stars know how to prioritize one thing above everything else when presenting something to the public. The element of surprise.

That’s what separates, for example, a crossover, blockbuster actor, from one that gets continually type-cast. That’s what makes a vlogger be watched from one week to another. And, that is what makes certain rock bands have fans that keep coming back for more.

Crushing Planes take a cue from 90s grunge on Searchlights. They use the classic dynamics of the genre to create something powerful and surprising. It’s all a whisper that ends up being a shout. And, it’s all in the vocals that call you up and lure you in. It’s contrast and the element of surprise that makes Crushing Planes a band to keep an ear out for.

Freedumb – Sudden Deaf

Genre: Punk

There are things that actors and other entertainers are able convincingly to portray without actually feeling them. And, there are others that they cannot.

Good actors are able to act in romantic comedies even when they are secretly mean bastards. Musicians are able to pretend outraged when they really don’t care very much at all.

Anger, however, is not really one of those things that be conveniently manufactured. In that sense, yes, anger is a gift.

Freedumb is taking the bitterness of a life-changing injury and using it as fuel for the single Sudden Deaf. It’s a song delivered with passion and with great hopes of getting others to listen to their story. Most importantly, it’s not fabricated.
