Cooper T – Original

Cooper T may hide his visage but acts as the ideal modern rocker – someone for whom reality’s problems don’t matter much.
It’s easy to get upset with the world. Getting a band together and screaming shout how messed up it is to try and live and survive on this planet should certainly find you. After all, it’s not hard to find people to feel the same way. The ones who don’t are either lying, confused, or stand to inherit a lot of money from their rich parents.
The only thing cooler is not caring about the world. In order to be unperturbed about the things going on around you, you either have to have achieved powers of concentration, a la George Harrison in Rishikesh or have to have immense power of some sort.
Cooper T’s “Original” is a British gangster post-punk. These are the words of someone that found a lot wrong with the world. But they are also the words of someone who has managed to get by. Call this the rock equivalent of a rapper talking up life and everything it has to offer while in the middle of an unforgiving concrete jungle. Cooper T is making the jump up!
Hoagie – Common Core Kids

Genre: Folk
Hoagie is an ambassador for the past that, as of now, doesn’t need rearranging or interpreting.
The captains of industry have convinced us that the world is changing for the better. Just you watch out? Every year new devices get launched that are guaranteed to make us more efficient, more informed and less lonely. The vast majority of them are a rehash of previous editions, but that is very much besides the point.
Folks who hang around as audiences to the arts usually feel the same way. They see the latest movies and make memes about it. They listened to the hit parade and made dances about it. And they trust that the most recent stories they’ve been told are ones about progress.
The past is one blurry spot that’s barely visible as far as most are concerned. But I’m afraid to disappoint you when I say that that’s where all the good things are.
Hoagie has pledged dedication to the past, its wisdom and the promise it holds of leading us to new and better things. “Common Core Kids” is a modern folk song about how identity gets washed and gets rewritten in slim, hard-to-read longhand.
Love these reviews Eduard, you have a way with words! I also think it’s great how you’re pairing a folkier song with a heavier one, as it exposes fans of either to something new. 🙂
