LA Solution Center – My Piranha
All artists steal from the ones who’ve influenced them the most. Some do it subtly, fearfully, and can’t really get the elements they’ve plundered to gel. For some, while the sources are obvious, it all comes together effortlessly as seems to be the case with LA Solution Center’s debut single My Piranha.
The band does little to hide their Alex Turner obsession. But, in beefing up the sound to appeal to hard rock audiences, the vocals end up sounding like 90s-era Marilyn Manson minus the gore.
There’s a studied arrogance to this band that I like. Were it not for the hot melodies and the urgency of the track, this group’s machismo would have been insufferable. As things stand their self-belief is to be admired. Strong first single!
Danny Pynes – Tomorrow Comes Around
Writing a song with the clear intention of turning it into a radio hit seems something unbecoming of alternative music, and therefore not something to be covered by Alt77. But, in a world where most number 1 singles are written by teams of 6-7 songwriters plundering the sounds of yesteryear, writing a ditty that crosses genres, and manages to be extremely catchy is almost an act of rebellion.

Danny Pynes could just be the new, lighter-touch Yelawolf. Pynes mixes country, southern-rock and rap, over the quick drumming that would not feel out of place in a garage rock song.
Tomorrow Comes Around sounds like it’s already been a hit. By the time it reaches the charts many of readers, as elitist as the one writing these words down, will pretend they don’t enjoy it. So, for your sake, hear it now while few have discovered its merits.
Danny Pynes plays Southern-fried, hip-hop, rock, country. Here’s our review of the 2020 single “Tomorrow Comes Around”.
