jasper dean – TELEMONKEY
Have you downloaded the LCD Soundsystem Groove Pack yet? Haven’t found the time? Well, I’m sorry, but given the circumstances, there is no way that we’re going to let you join in on the Indie Sleaze Revival.
Without those beats, how are people even going to know that they’re expected to dance? Why, they’re likely to just sit around in a corner drinking strawberry-flavoured mineral water and scrolling their phones.
Yeah, it’s fun to recreate the past and improve upon it. But every time I find myself in a dark room with hundreds of strangers all moving to the same beat, I get anxious and start feeling like I’ve mistakenly joined some fascist rally. jasper dean isn’t so much worried as amused.
“TELEMONKEY” is a song for everyone who hasn’t downloaded the pack in time, an indie dance number for all the people stuck in the past and glued to the dancefloor. It’s a tongue-in-cheek number complete with over-the-top production. Still, humorous as it is, it manages to be really catchy.
Humble Francis – Back To Hurt
Pop music hits are a lot like elections for the presidency in that it doesn’t matter if not one of the candidates is to your liking because, one way or another, the results are going to end up affecting your life.
In fact, pop music still elicits such strong reactions from the public because nobody’s figured out a good enough way to avoid these songs. They sneak up on you from the radio, TikTok, and the supermarket speakers.
That’s why you might as well contribute to making the next pop hit, the one that you’re going to hear over and over again, be something worth listening to. Humble Francis may just tick the boxes and needs your vote.
“Back to Hurt” is a smooth, pop and new-soul meets 2010’s The Arctic Monkeys. It’s a song about the cycles of endless suffering because of love. But, most importantly, it’s well produced, nicely sung, and has a hook that you could bear to hear a million times.
