Famous pop star Mariah Carey has revealed, through excerpts of her soon-to-be-released autobiography, that during the 1990s she worked on an album of alternative rock.
The singer is getting ready to release her autobiography titled The Meaning of Mariah Carey. Several excerpts from the book have been released to the public. One of these details Carey’s interest in changing her commercial pop styling for an alt-rock makeover during 1995.
According to the singer, the project went as far as having a title, Someone’s Ugly Daughter. Furthermore, Carey considered releasing the album under the moniker of Chick.
In the book, Carey says that she worked on the album while also recording her succesful pop album Daydream. The singer says that the work was therapeutic. She also admits hoping to capitalize on the success of alternative rock.
Mariah Carey claims that the entire album exists and that she even shot a professional music video. She hopes to soon release her work which she claims is “unrecognizable“.
The reason for the album being shelved for such a long time, Carey claims, is due to record label executives opposing the project. The pop star is looking to share the work with fans in the near future.
