For better, or, for worse, the way that one speaks is important. At least, it is if they’re determined to convey their ideas with any clarity and with the capacity to convince others of their ideas.
In realizing this goal, all sorts of strategies are recommended. Some believe that speaking loudly, aggressively draws the attention and respect of a club. Others believe that if an idea is strong enough, one needs only to whisper it. In this way, the world will have no choice but to lean closer to hear all those pearls of wisdom.
lucas stern’s poet, is not only written in all lower case, it’s sung in that way as well. But, it’s charming and wins you over in the way that a lonely University poet might. It’s poetry for poetry’s sake, with a beat, and with lucas stern hiding underneath the production and waiting to be found.
Martin Rubashov – Kingdom
Genre: Alternative rock
Similar artists: Tool, Tallest Man on Earth, Anders Fridén (In Flames), Katatonia
The one good thing that’s come out of rock losing its footing at the top of the music industry, is that it has separated the ones interested in the art of making music, from the ones looking to earn a career out of it.
Don’t shed a tear for the ones that have left. Your future Roger Waters or David Bowie may not be making music. They may indeed become architects, visual artists, or work for the United Nations. Ambition of a different sort calls those sorts of characters.
However, the ones still around have a different itch to scratch. It’s a desire for some sort of state of sonic grace. Sweden’s Martin Rubashov’s Kingdom feels built with that desire in mind. This is metal-inspired esoteric rock tailored with the same attention to detail that Renaissance Italian artists might need to pick up when being commissioned by the Pope to design one of them fancy cathedrals.
It helps Martin Rubashov stand out, and stand apart as someone that is truly invested in the art of making rock music.
