Rock n’ roll is going through a phase where it feels the need to quote itself. Micky James like others of his generation has an affinity for a retro sound and look, citing David Bowie and The Roling Stones as inspiration.
I’m not much for nostalgia, and frankly don’t get enough of a kick out of the fact that Greta van Fleet manages to sound like Aerosmith, or whoever it is they’re xeroxing.
But, Micky James’ music sounds fun, lite, and takes a lot of its best moves from glam-rock’s easygoing nature, even if Micky sounds more like Robin Williams than Marc Bolan.
