The psychedelic western genre of the 1960s died prematurely as far as I am concerned. It was a fashion that influenced not only films (like El Topo), but also the sonic textures of recording of artists like Scott Walker.

The style has its admirers in unexpected places. Montand hails from Denmark, and cinescope Western-Indie about strange gatherings of people at Merry Mount. You have to see the whole thing in technicolor to get the full benefit of Montand’s debut single.
