Nian Tong – You Know (Review)

Nian Tong - You Know

Nian Tong reinterprets chamber pop assuredly as if the sweet melodies of the 1960s always belonged to his home country of China. Just like the Turtles or the Zombies’ greatest singles, there’s a naive beauty about You know. It requires that you ditch all pretension in looking to enjoy it.

Throughout the song, Nian Tong goes on to compare his love interest to a rainbow and goes on to assure them that everything is going to be alright. It could spread pretty thin. This could easily come out as mere platitudes, were it not for the fact that Mr. Tong sounds completely convinced of the words he’s singing, and committed to this style of music.

We are a website that promotes alternative music, yes, but sometimes it’s impossible not to smile at those genuinely in love with pop music’s lighter side.
