No Tree To Heaven – Running for Your Life

It’s tempting to think that the future has already been written. In fact, it’s Likely, been chronicled time and time again. What new tricks? Every single combination of every possible outcome has already been played out.

What’s left to do? Just stop holding on for dear life and start enjoying the trip. You know where you’re going, how this is going to end up. And, along the way, you should know what music’s gonna be playing.

And, yet, while the rule books are available to everyone, it’s only a few who proceed with following the recipe to the letter and getting the right results. One 80s-styled Smiths-like guitar line and 60s-esque choruses? Sure, you do!

You’re likely to find what you’re looking for in the retro-loving, British arms of No Tree in Heaven. Sure, they’re British. How else could all the ingredients be added so neatly and just at the right time? “Running for Your Life” is the sweet 3-minute roller coaster of a single that this island has always done so well.

Kat Five – EMERGENCY START

Wars aren’t always won by bravery and fighting. Most of the time, they’re decided by people simply giving up, losing interest in mounting any opposition, giving the keys to the kingdom and moving everything they own down to Tenerife.

Now, pop star plants, AI songs and toxic music impresarios aren’t going to destroy the world on their own. Certainly not today. But it’s what they put into the world and the way that it’s forced down the throats of the audience that, ultimately, will.

Who are we when we, finally, have forgotten who we are? And, where shall we go when we can’t even find a way to express what we feel? These are questions that Kat Five, an artist experimenting with pop music, synths and big philosophical ideas, dares to ask.

“EMERGENCY START” isn’t a single that is perfectly sound. But rather feels like the point. Instead, this is a celebration of individuality, of the joys of experimenting, of the glory in reshaping yourself and your surroundings. In this day and age, these are mighty brave gestures of defiance.
