It’s rare to hear a group of musicians creating something quite unique out of the spare parts of previous indie hits. I believe this is what Not Fit, subtly, managed to create on their single “Naturally“.
Yes, on the surface, the pulsating rhythm section, the offended-sounding post-punk vocals, the floating guitar lines, have their places in different other songs produced decades ago. However, put together, it’s hard for me to find a band that sounds quite like Not Fit.
Lyrically, the singer wastes little time in encouraging his audience members to make the best of nature blossoming during the months of spring, since it could well be their last. Such threats have often provided lyrical ammunition to goth and post-punk bands of old, and the message rings as true as it ever has.
Not Fit have the directness and the pessimism of the Fall, but they swing their sound from the chandelier like a long-lost 80s arena rock group. This band has earned our attention!
