Orly Raquel – Witch

Orly Raquel - Witch

Orly Raquel’s music sounds either like it could soundtrack Florinda Donner-Grau’s writings (an associate of Carlos Castaneda), or, alternatively, serve as a flipside to Townes van Zandt’s “Our mother the mountain”.

In this softly sung tune, ms. Raquel confesses to being a “witch“, but assures us that her desire is not to cast evil spells, but rather get in touch with her femininity with the purpose of helping herself and others.

Yes, I thought of comparing this to Stevie Nicks, or Mazzy Star, but that would be lazy. Rather, what ms. Raquel does here is create something of her own, a rarest treat these days.
