Our Escape – Stolen Desire (Review)

Our Escape - Stolen Desire

“I would rather choke than eat your bread” seems to be the mantra of post-hardcore single Stolen Desire. The architects of this monument to righteous protest, Our Escape, sound like a modern Refused whose “Shape of Punk to come” defined the sound of an era.

In many ways, the elements that Our Escape bring in (the hardcore beat, aggressive vocals, hyper D-beat, emo style break) are a reflection of rock in the current era.

However, just like some of the more iconic songs of the hardcore era, this too descends into volcanic chaos near its final seconds, showing that while some elements stay the same, punk is ever-evolving.
