pastrami – PACK OF WOLVES
You’re going to need a friend or two in this world if you’re planning on sharing ideas, having someone to accompany you to events, or, merely, making sure that you keep your sanity intact. But these people can’t just be found everywhere. And, once you do locate them, you’re kind of stuck with them, or, at least, with a whole new type of responsibility.
And since real, honest, time-tested friendships are a rarer thing nowadays than they ever have been, it’s only to be expected that dark fantasies would begin to surround even this wholesome area of life. How well-connected are your friends? Do your friends know the right moves or the right words to get what they want in a bind?
In many ways, the world’s just as bad off and dangerous as it always has been. pastrami’s song, and the accompanying music video for “PACK OF WOLVES,” is an excellent look at the human psyche, at the desire to make the right connections in order to make sure that you always win against your opponents. Fittingly, pastrami relies on an ugly-sounding, aggressive rap-metal sound that feels like an apt soundtrack to the current crisis of loneliness and the eerie fantasising surrounding it.
Televised Mind – Rumours
Negativity is a mighty easy thing to sell. It’s no wonder that so many are in the business of putting a price on it and distributing it to the world. There will never be a lack of supply of it, and, yes, demand will continue to skyrocket.
But that’s just because we have a tendency to fool ourselves into thinking we’re doing something when we complain. Worst of all, there are even those who think they’re putting the world to right by spreading bad energy about other people.
It’s a losing game trying to poison the waters and take the mature punk-voice of Televised Mind to set you straight. People will gossip, say nasty things behind your back and try to hurt you. But what do they get?
Nothing! “Rumours” is a track in which the lead vocals, coming over the charged garage-rock guitars, a tone courtesy of Gordon Raphael’s production work, come through like the wisdom of someone who’s seen it all and who lets you know what really matters. Televised Mind wants to see you happy and not listen to the rumour-mill.
