Grunge achieved what the Pixies could only have considered in terms of loud-soft dynamics. But, theirs wasn’t unquestioned technical superiority for long, as the Deftones found a way to switch from soft to crushingly loud in just a few more years time.
Patient A starts where the Deftones left off circa White Pony. Their verses are sublime sounding, almost too soft to record, while the breaks are pure knife fights in the dark alleys.
