Phasez – Another Day
Not everything will work out your way, I’m sorry to say. You’re likely to run into some bad luck along the way, or into people who’ll, at the very least, ruin your mental well-being. But if nothing worse happens, you’ll be left with a bunch of stories to tell your friends over a drink. “So, how did you get out of that one,” they’ll ask once they’ve been wrapped up in your story. You’ll just shrug your shoulders.
Life happens to you, and not because of you, most of the time. There’s no way of jumping out of a scene and moving to another. But, thankfully, it’s easy to jump in and out of the lives of characters in songs and movies. All that is required is a good enough story and the professionals to make it come to life. It’s a tall order, but once that’s handled, audiences can jump in and out of the best or worst day in somebody’s life.
Phasez’ “Another Day” is a tense alt-rock track that sounds exactly like what it might feel to open up door of a loony bin and get sucked up inside. There’s madness on affair and plenty of unusual characters to spread it around. But you’re safe! This is just music, after all, and Phasez is the rare artist that can make all of these things come alive and let you leave home with your sanity intact once the show is done.
Caro – Fuss About
Complaining is a lot of fun! But the reasons that we find to moan on about life aren’t always worth the trouble. Ardent music listeners are among those most tempted to express their disdain for the way that things are going.
In the minds of many listeners, especially the once of a certain age, every dongd of any real importance has already been written and recorded, and we’re now forced to live off the scraps thrown to us by greedy record labels.
But what if all the great modern music is out there, but just buried underneath rubble and rubbish? What if it’s just the repsonsaibiltiy of the listener to use their internet connection and all their fancy apps to find that music?
Caro’s “Fuss About” is about the anxiety of simply having too many things from which to choose. As it so happens, that might be the one thing conspiring against artists of Caro’s calibre. “Fuss About” is a clever, and complex modern rock sound. Few can complain about the imagination or level of proficiency involved in making this. But you have to choose! Pick this, treasure it, and it may reward you greatly in time.
