La Need Machine – La Need Machine
Genre: Punk, Grunge, Alternative Rock
Similar artists: Social Distortion; Garbage; Foo Fighters; Smashing Pumpkins; the Donnas
La Need Machine address the world’s never-ending, and destructive appetite for their new single.
There aren’t any real prizes for art. Sure, some distinctions have been invented. And, yes, many of them can do wonders for the recipients’ career. But, art is a never-ending process, an unapproachable horizon. This desire arises out of hunger that can’t be satisfied. And, perhaps, because of this, it is described as a lonely profession.
The same can be said about those who choose to pursue rock music beyond a passing interest. It’s a long, lonely race with only themselves and the musicians that they choose as mentors with which to run. The purity of these artists’ intention is recognized. It doesn’t always translate to significant success.
Because of that artists must truly love the race. La Need Machine sound as if they do. There’s is a mission to accomplish something of a similar grandeur as punk and alternative-rock greats that came before them. La Need Machine sound like a band who’ve chosen a difficult path and have no qualms about it.
Pictures – Who took the soul
Genre: Soft Rock, Indie Rock, Garage Rock
Pictures invest all their power and attention of their guitar pop on the single Who took the soul.
Attitude and imitation can get you far. If you think that the world is all waiting for someone new, different, as good Dylan or Cobain, you’re wrong. They’re looking for someone just like them. Ideally, they’re looking for songs and albums to be deemed just as important.
The only problem then becomes knowing who to take from, how to build confidence, and having the right abilities to be able to create the sound and image that you desire. That’s a tall order. Dylan or Cobain were, after all, a sum of the parts of their predecessors.
Pictures’ Who took the soul proves that the German band knows how and what to select for their guitar-hurricane of pop music. They’re rock with an ear for melody and for feedback. This is pop music launched through the speaker at great power and velocity. They don’t make ’em like they used to? You mustn’t have heard Pictures.
