
Robert Smith of the seminal goth-rock group The Cure has shared a remix of the Deftones’ song Teenager. The song was part of the group’s esteemed 2000 album White Pony.
The remix is to be included on Black Stallion, an album that features reworkings of the songs found on the nu-metal band’s 2000 record. Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, DJ Shadow, Blank Mass are among the others set to contribute to the record.
Black Stallion will be the Deftones‘ first new project since the release of the album Ohms. The 2020 record was received with generally positive reviews. Alt77 called the record the band’s best work since White Pony and a testament to their undeniable creative abilities.
White Pony was released in 2000 at the height of nu-metal popularity. Deftones were among the group’s associated with the genre. Their relative change of style was greeted with little enthusiasm y fans initially. However, the record has grown to be regarded as one of the of the most influential rock albums released around the early 2000s.
