Sexschweiss – DADA
The world’s always moving, alright. But it’s usually doing it in the same patterns, at strange speeds and for odd reasons. The whole thing is making me dizzy and fearful of climbing ladders. And if it’s all the same to you, I’d like for it to stand still for a moment while I can re-evaluate my place in the whole grand scheme of things before it’s too late.
I trust that I am not alone in my paranoid afflictions. I believe that the majority of us are feeling the effects of systems designed to beat us into submission rather than tailored to encourage and defend our individuality. And if all that makes you want to burn a calendar in broad daylight while screaming at the top of your lungs, Sexschweiss’ got a tune for you.
Like the world encircling you while using the same moves, “DADA” is similarly repetitive and aggressive. It’s a song about meaningless things and how you’re forced to do them anyway. It’s a tune about how, one day soon, if you don’t get your way, your personality will just be rubbed out with a stamp. Sexschweiss know that telling the truth from the lies is just one scream away.
Crystal Palace – Per My Last Email
There are fewer and fewer things that you’re allowed to do. No, you’re not suddenly living in a version of North Korea, not just yet. After all, that’s a place where people commune in the park to do gymnastics and dance together.
But whatever freedoms you thought that you had are eroding every day. I say this with confidence and with absolutely no knowledge about the country in which you’re residing. I say this because the move is across the board.
It’s all, likely, a consequence of just how unhappy and melancholy-prone we all are all of a sudden. It’s probably because some University teachers studied riots long enough that they knew a few of them could start at any point.
You might not get the chance to show your anger in public for much longer. You’ll certainly not find a good excuse if the cops ask. That’s why Crystal Palace, the punk band not the EPL football team, wants to deliver a shot of virulent, get-up-and-scream with “Per My Last Email.” If this doesn’t calm you down, nothing will.
