Traditionally, you’ll be able to find Irish group Slim Tin Fox plowing their way mercilessly through power-chord inflicted punk-rock anger. On When I get off, the old dog learns the proverbial new trick, but one that belongs to the same era that informs most of their music.
Here, the band goes for an angular, repetitive sound that reminds me, personally, of bands like Magazine and Public Image Ltd. At the end of the day, the best of what punk rock has to offer has to be judged on how well they manage to glue an audience to the sticky barroom floor, and Slim Tin Fox are a group worth making an effort to see and hear.
