Supersloth are a new band from New York City, that most fertile ground for indie and punk rock music.
“Glass Shoes” is their proof of concept. It’s a song fitting of the indie-rock moniker. To begin with, it’s a self-release, essential criteria, one would think, for adhering to the “indie” label.
Secondly, it features many of the tropes of this kind of genre. Simple, effects-drenched guitar lines dance beneath the vocals of a tune that in other clothes could easily have been an art-folk number. Gentle reverb and moody lyrics make this a soundtrack piece for long walks under the moonlight over an under abundant, overpopulated city.
Supersloth are a new band that have already composed a clear vision for themselves. They’ll be worth keeping tabs on.
