Telos vision – Walk Away (feat. Goatman)

People who study music for a living are convinced that all the songs that could have been written have been written. These professors are dull and uninspired, but they have the ears of the world. They’ll show up on television shows and podcasts and preach their theories of doom.

Musicians, on the other hand, and especially cool ones that don’t much bother with chord charts or the mathematical connections between music scales, will tell you that each new day is an opportunity to find something brand new, something that did not exist before.

But who should we trust? Do we trust the specialists who’ve given up their lives to study how music works without ever being able to make much themselves, or do we opt to side with the talented artists? Hearing Telos vision, the choice becomes obvious.

Telos vision, and their collaborator GOAT’s Goatman, are psychedelic rock crusaders. They’re people who, probably, wake up each morning listening to spaced-out 1960s rock and telling themselves that this is a good day to outdo those songs and discover new realms. It’s not about the chords or melodies being unique. Nah, mister! It’s about the fact that on “Walk Away,” Telos vision dares to dream that there’s more out there to be found!

BLKE – Heat

“Talent” is a word used often when talking about artists. It’s generally used by people who don’t have any! It’s usually used by people who never bothered trying to create anything, but who feel that if they tried, they could.

But ask most people, and they’ll tell you dumb stuff about talent. They’ll try to convince you it’s the ability to play a musical instrument proficiently while driving a motorised vehicle. They’ll say that it’s the ability to learn Swahili in a day.

That ain’t nothing! Your phone can create a hundred hours’ worth of music in mere minutes, and it can’t be accused of having talent. Nah, if that sort of thing actually exists, it’s the ability to get people shocked, stopped in their tracks the way that BLKE’s music does.

Employing musical strategies utilised so beautifully, also by the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain or BRMC, BLKE look to soundtrack the kind of things that keep showing up in your dreams and make you wake up in a cold sweat. This is music built from equal parts melody and dissonance, and it’s music that has a real pull. Now, that’s something!
