You might have seen television shows made up of footage from a rock star’s home, detailing a typical day in the musician’s life. You will have likely been amazed by just how well rested and relaxed most of these people seem to be. Life has treated them well, and this is reflected in their music. When on the road, all of them play the hits. When they have to provide new ones, they just write about the good ol’ days/
That’s a wonderful thing to rely on, but it’s unlikely to be the fuel that helps to create many songs worth hearing decades from now. By contrast, the artists who do manage to create memorable works, more of often than not, are driven by dark forces that they cannot control, nor pause. That’s the case with The Huntress and Holder of Hands.
It’s because “Timbre Inaudible” feels like a song written despite the intentions of its author. It’s a song created out of argument with the natural world that can never be settled. This is music that isn’t carefully considering strategies to make it sound eerie and mysterious. This is music that is already haunted. It’s a terrible price to pay, but the results can be fantastic.

Rock music should only be written and performed by people who have no intention, nor the power to ever grow up. Sadly, others have got in on the act. They include people who could’ve just been lawyers or accountants and could have lived on the allowance of their rich parents for all time. These people make mature, balanced decisions and are responsible for awful songs.
The ones fated to be rock musicians, on the other hand, can’t do anything else and, by law, they should be excused from all responsibilities. They’re the people who aren’t afraid to live with their emotions, to hold onto their innocence, and to engage in the kind of conversations that adults find embarrassing. BLUESTEM has written a song for all these people.
