The Last Post – Ready, Reset

You won’t get to do anything important unless you’re terribly afraid. And it’s not just failure that you need to fear. The worst thing that you can do, and all the great achievers will tell you this, is to shy away from the fears.

Yet, if there’s one thing that we like from our entertainment, pop music especially, it’s confidence. I don’t want Joe Strummer to write a song about how he doesn’t know what to think about the Third World and globalisation.

We want answers! But that constant need may be what forces us away from embracing our fears, lack of confidence, and our humanity. Fortunately, The Last Post isn’t shying away from any of these things.

“Ready, Reset” is a friendly, polite reminder to be afraid, feel uneasy and worry that you’re going down the wrong path at full speed. How else will you know that it’s time to stop? The Last Post put into words what so many of us are afraid to acknowledge exists.

Klemsdal – It seems

Unless you’ve dedicated your life to poetry or philosophy, you’ll never be able to really express what you feel. All of life’s most special moments? All of the times in which you felt like your heart might just go out from all the excitement?

Those are just things stuck inside your mind, if you’re lucky, with no way to ever come out. Regular folks can’t do it. Music reviewers have no chance. And not even the people who write beautiful lyrics for pop music can do anything about it.

But there’s a sound that goes along with those thoughts, doesn’t it? There’s a certain melody that feels like it’s being blown in by the wind from a distance away, right? That’s what Klemsdal is trying to capture.

The pretty, lo-fi rock of “It seems” is all about illusions coming face-to-face with reality and never standing any chance. What Klemsdal captures with this tender indie-rock under this unpretentious, but mysterious production is something that only the greatest dreamers, who are world-class poets and philosophers, can ever articulate.
