Happy Science – The Last Goodbye

Genre: Indie Rock, Alternative Rock

Similar artists: Idles, Fontaines D.C, Squid, Shame, Italia 90

Writing, in most countries, used to be the privileged of the wealthy and well educated. After all, who else possessed the skill or the leisure time to engage in such activities.

As a result, many of the classic works of literature struggle to understand regular people’s woes and celebrations. Oftentimes, their troubles are indeed not even treated with much respect.

Luckily, punk poets well-versed in both stringing beautiful lines and shouting their anger have appeared lately. Happy Science are one of the most convincing ones. They could only come from England, judging by their sound, which is enough to make anyone angry, really. That aside, the turn of phrases in The Last Goodbye are brilliant.

The Mexican Border – Call From The Unknown

Genre: Post Rock, Garage Rock, Alternative Rock

Similar artists: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

There will come a time in the not too distant future when psychologists will learn that they can study rock musicians and save a lot of money on volunteers.

Artists in the rock music genre often put themselves through various traumas that most people avoid. Not only that, but they document their findings as well.

Malmo’s The Mexican Border dig into the darkness of the human psyche on Call From The Unknown. They’re inspired by bands like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and, judging by their sound, Echo and the Bunnymen. Their bass-heavy sound can easily function as a worthy nighttime soundtrack through unfamiliar terrain. The Mexican Border sound like people that have a leather jacket for every day of the week.
