There’s something about perfection that renders it tremendously boring. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the sound of modern rock is so tame. Even a novice producer can use a digital workstation to make a record sound optimal.
The Shangri-la of recording is here, but nobody seems very excited. This is a lot like rock music’s evolution itself. Who knew that musicians would get better and that nobody would care anymore? Who knew that the rockstars of old, the ones who knew little more than three chords, would still adorn bedroom walls throughout the world?
2AMature’s live recording of Ouija Board is not pretty. But, it is real. There’s no way to imagine being in any other place than in the crowd as this 80s indie-rock-inspired sound got recorded. For those nostalgic about live rock shows and the thrill of seeing a group sweat it out in a tiny club, 2AMature does the trick. Special points if you like your snares really loud.
TLB – Fucked Up and Lonely
Release date: Feb 08, 2022
Who gets to make poetry anyway? A lot of would-be bards must have asked this as they embarked on a career of rhyme-slinging and metaphor-churning. The answer that a lot of them came for was simple. Anyone can be a poet.
Doesn’t everyone need poetry in one form or another? Don’t people talk differently, and need others just like them to offer the kind of messages with which they can relate? Sure, the answer is yes.
TLB’s Fucked Up and Lonely is poetry for young, broken hearts. Before you scoff, consider that these are the souls most in need of poetry and most capable of producing it. TLB makes romantic, but urgent pop-punk music. These are the sort of lyrics destined to be scratched out in high-school textbooks. Good!
