urn – Sticks & Stones (Review)

urn - Sticks & Stones

“Stick & Stones” is a sensitive, quirky tune about growing up. The lyrics tell the tale of struggles, stumbles, and bruises. It’s a story that many might relate to, but not one often featured in the among the glowingly positive, self-confident world of modern music.

That’s especially true of the modern indie-folk genre to which this tune belongs. In truth, the lyrics to “Sticks & Stones” are a tremendous surprise given that the vocals and sparse instrumentation sound like the kind of tune that could easily soundtrack a mobile phone advertisement. It’s the sort of pleasant folkish tune that would make a savvy record exec get out their chequebook on the spot.

However, moving beyond the initial impression, urn makes a sweet, delightful sound that may entrance many summer-night listeners.
