Welsh & Company – Lead Me to the Wolves
Nearly half of the world’s countries are holding elections this year. However, there is just one political election that nobody has been able to get away from. No, it wasn’t billed as a political event. The promoters wouldn’t be dumb enough to do that. The U.S. election was promoted in the same way that the World Cup final or a prize fight is promoted. “Come and place your bet and win” is what the posters really said.
Since when has everyone been so in love with one politician? Ever since a few years ago, a marketing genius figured out that politics with the sport’s hooliganism factor isn’t much fun. This simple trick made people want to get involved. Regular people give up their time and money to knock on doors, write angry posts and be part of the propaganda. It’s almost as if they’ve forgotten that politicians really really really couldn’t care less about them! And that’s a fact.
Regardless of where you are, let’s move past the trauma of the U.S. elections together. Welsh & Company’s country rock of “Lead Me to the Wolves” is the anthem of bitter memories that we all need. It’s a gently sung number of the one thing you should remember – politicians ain’t got your best interest at heart. If they did, they’d be working in orphanages, teaching the blind to read, or fixing the potholes in your street. Welsh & Company know the misery of having to see so many regular people taking the bait.
The Hearts – Higher Country
We claim rock music and all the styles that helped it become what it is, as well as all the styles that evolved out of it, as our own! We don’t require, as far as we can tell, any deed to confirm our ownership. It’s simply our belief that nobody can divorce from its power in our lives. If anybody can own organised sounds, in this case, it is all of us.
We are so confident, to the point of arrogance, because we have used it as medicine for many years. And most people will swear to its effectiveness. Few would argue against taking an aspirin for a headache. Few would argue against pressing roots/country music about seeking freedom and about escaping heartache against the heart as a possible remedy.
The Hearts make country-influenced music that reaches for a world in which the true believers will be free from pain. So far, such a world exists merely in songs such as “Higher Country.” It’s music that has nursed many back to health, and the spiritual twang found on this recording by The Hearts searches for that special formula. How are they so confident that they’ll find it? Well, with these kinds of truths, all you need to do is plug right in. There’s always enough for everyone.
