When Lou Reed passed away, everyone who had ever spent money on a rock record and who possessed the ability to spell took to the internet to tell whoever was concerned just how much they were going to miss him.
The only people refraining from making such grand statements seemed to be those who actually knew or had met the man. More balanced, perhaps, they mused about the fact that, so it goes, usually, the most creative people are the ones you least want to meet down a darkened alley, or on a date.
But what if this does happen to you? Will it make you feel better to know that those people are going to go home and write a great song about meeting you? That’s what Dinger’s “100x” most likely is.
The facts are that “100x” is clever, funny and sounds like Lou Reed rubbishing the experience of dating someone who is not charmed by their strange anecdotes and dangerous encouragement. What is also a fact is that “100x” is a fantastic song, a negative little love rocket.
