Drac Hammond – User

Nothing wrong with admitting to wanting to have a little fun. Nothing wrong with admitting to having too much fun at the expense of your health. I’ve been hanging around communities of clever, talented people who prioritize partying above everything else, yet swear that their interest lies solely in creating great works of art. Bollocks!

Not only is the foundation of rock myth-making built around the idea of the rock star that burns quickly and brightly. The lifestyle of the rock star caters to this idea. Some of my favourite musicians were veritable social freaks who played their guitar well, could sing a good line, and looked good in shades.

It’s OK to pretend you’re that character as well. Everyone else has been doing it, and some have gone too far. Drac Hammond’s User may either be cosplay or a diary account, but it’s a convincing one. Rock in any era needs stars, and never has it had fewer than today. This is Aussie Brit-pop that makes you feel like you live forever. And, really what can you ask more from rock.

Women Of The Night – Money

I can’t exactly tell you that learning to play guitar as well as some of the world’s biggest virtuosos is a waste of time. There are certainly worse ways to spend your time and many sure ways of how not to access some of the finer things that the world has to offer.

I will say that depending on your ultimate goal, it may be an inefficient use of your time. It takes a while to become decent at anything. It takes a really long time to become a master. Frankly, chances are that if you are willing to sacrifice all of that fine and delicate resource in that area, you aren’t a very interesting person, never having ventured into other areas and truly built a strong enough personality.

Few places seem to have been able to produce more immediate, scorching rock n’ roll than New York City. Women Of The Night’s Money is a prime example. The members of this group sound like they’ve wasted little time studying the guitar outside of the bare essentials. It has proven the best choice. What they lack in technique, they more than make in vision and attitude, the two areas that are most important in the game of rock music.
